How to apply
The steps below outline the admissions process. Contact the office to confirm requirements and dates for your child’s grade.

Visit the school
See our classrooms during the school day, meet staff, and ask questions about life at The Learning Tree.

Submit the application
Complete the application with your family’s information, your child’s current school, and a short introduction to your family.
DEADLINEJanuary 29 - 03
Arrange a student visit
The admissions team will explain the classroom visit or play session for your child’s age group.
WINDOWDec–Feb - 04
Send records and aid materials
Submit the requested school records and teacher recommendation. If you are applying for financial aid, send those materials as well.
DUEFebruary 12 - 05
Decision & enrollment
The school sends decisions by mail and email, along with enrollment instructions and any financial-aid award.

Getting to know your child
We want to learn about your child’s interests, school experience, and support needs. A conversation and a visit can help your family understand whether our school is a good fit.
QUESTIONS
Common admissions questions
Not for 3K, 4K or Kindergarten. For grades 1–8 we look at report cards and a morning classroom visit; there is no standardized test requirement.
Three by December 31 of the year they enter, the same cutoff as NYC public schools.
Mid-year transfers for grades 1–7 may be possible when a place is available. Contact admissions to check your child’s grade.
Children do not need to speak English before applying. Tell the admissions team about the languages your child uses so you can discuss the support they may need.
